Solid State Drives

Solid State Drives (SSD)are types of mass storage device similar to hard disk drives (HDD). Unlike harddrives, SSDs do not have any moving parts. Instead of storing data on magnetic platters, SSDs store data using flash. They use non-volatile memory as a means of storing and accessing data. Flash memory is non-volatile storage/IE storage that can retain information without electricity, and can electrically erased and programmed. Computing systems use flash memory as non-volatile storage for the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) and the instructions that start the computer which is the bootstrap loader.
