DC to DC Converters

An DC/DC converter is an integrated circuit that converts a source direct DC current from one voltage level to another. It uses a power switch, an inductor, and a diode to transfer energy from input to output. Linear and switched are the two different types of DC/DC converters. These can be rearranged to form a step-up (boost) converter, step-down (buck) converter, and an inverter (flyback).
